As a Respiratory Therapist in the year 2020 our careers changed drastically, with what appears to be no end in sight. This is not only the case for Respiratory Therapists, but for anyone in the healthcare industry. Life as we knew it changed, for the foreseeable future.
With the relaunch of schools in September 2020 the question and concern surrounds a second wave of Corona Virus, will be see another spike in cases? w
ill there be outbreaks among school staff and families? Will the guidelines and restrictions tighten? We are only early into the relaunch of schools and the economy, however statistics are already appearing surrounding these important questions.
The Alberta Government launched the statistics below regarding the number of cases from September 29th-October 5th 2020. This shows the number of cases now that schools are up and running in the classroom. As you can see in our more population dense locations (Calgary, Edmonton) cases are much higher than the rest of the province, which is to be expected. The question arises as to why Edmonton, Alberta (789 cases) has over double the number of reported cases in the same time frame, versus Calgary, Alberta (394 cases).
