About
Sarah Rushton
Welcome to my e-portfolio. I have been a practicing Respiratory Therapist for seven years. Currently I am employed by Interior Health, in British Columbia, Canada. I work at a small rural hospital as well as a medium size hospital within the North Okanagan, one of the most beautiful places in the world, in my opinion. My previous work experience has led my across the country, working in Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Alberta, and now British Columbia. I am grateful for my career and the experiences it has allowed me to gain thus far. I have worked in acute care, public healthcare, as well as private healthcare over the past seven years.
I value each patient as an individual and strive to provide a high level of patient centered care, education, and satisfaction. I hold myself to strong ethical standards of care, ensuring each patient is taken care of. Patient education is vital in my practice, a key factor for patient success in my opinion. This is especially important for patients living independently.
Previously I worked in hospital settings (CEHHC) as well as private sleep disorder breathing clinics (The Snore Shop),
and home oxygen clinics (Respiratory Homecare Solutions)
were I gained a wide variety of skills to apply throughout my career.
Currently I am a Masters in Health Studies student at Athabasca University. I am looking forward to acquiring new knowledge to apply to my current and future career endeavors. I hope this e-portfolio gives insight into who I am professionally and my core values.
